Sheryl Shurville is a phenomenon. The owner of Chorleywood Books, she has several other bookshops in the Chilterns and few authors escape her attentions for long. I am one of around eighty due to come to Chorleywood Library this year to talk about their books in front of a literate bunch of Sheryl’s customers who have made these ‘Evenings With’ such a success over the years.

Here is Sheryl in full flow on Tuesday evening after I’d spent an hour discussing ‘Death on the Thames’ with Nigel Rothband. Nigel is a retailer turned motivational speaker focused on leadership. He’s also a man who knows he has a book inside him struggling to get out. When it emerges it will be a cracker and perhaps Sheryl will invite me back to interview him.
