Blog from Melrose

June 14, 2024

Melrose in Scotland is the venue for the Borders Book Festival. Authors and readers have been gathering in this beautiful part of the world for twenty years now.

Here I am on Thursday, June 13th forming a temporary coalition with Lib. Dem. Michael Moore. Michael and first entered Parliament together in 1997 when he was elected to represent this Borders constituency becoming Secretary of State for Scotland in the 2010 coalition government.

He was interviewing me in his capacity as Chairman of the Festival.

Politics past and present obviously loomed large in our conversation and in the questions from a packed audience. But we spent plenty of time talking about Detective Chief Superintendent Louise Mangan and her latest adventure in ‘Death on the Thames’.
