These three senior citizens (Professor Robin Wilson, Yours Truly and Neil Kinnock) are pictured at Waterstones, Islington Green for the launch of my concise biography of Harold Wilson.
I was delighted that Robin (Harold’s oldest son) could come, together with one of his two daughters Catherine, and her husband Will.
Robin is a professor of mathematics at Oxford and has led the life of academic pursuit that Mary (Harold’s wife) would have preferred for her husband.
As for Neil, he was elected to Parliament in the 1970 election, the only one that Wilson lost (of the five he fought as leader). Eventually, of course, he was to become one of Harold’s successors as Labour leader and he graced the evening with a witty speech in honour of the great man.
So, the book has been released into the community and I’ll be spending the next six months promoting it whilst also continuing to write the next novel.
