Cheltenham Literary Festival

October 13, 2019

Two photos; two events at Cheltenham; one hell of a lot of fun.

The first event was with Matt Chorley and Katie Perrior talking about Special Advisors in Whitehall. Katie was one (to Theresa May in 10 Downing Street), I employed them as a Cabinet minister and Matt writes about them entertainingly in his political blogs and articles for The Times.

The second photo is of me signing a copy of my book ‘This Boy’ for Richard Curtis who spoke so wittily about his passion for the Beatles at our Sunday morning session Chaired by Matt Stadlen and alongside Jude Rogers the music critic.

There were 1,500 people at the event one of whom told the audience he played bass with the Beatles four times after Stuart Sutcliffe left. I wanted his autograph but he disappeared before the end.
