Crewe

June 12, 2019

The Royal Hotel in Crewe was apparently constructed specifically to host a visit to the town by Queen Victoria. I was told that there is an underground passageway linking the hotel to the station in order to avoid the monarch getting wet if it rained.

There is no such tunnel linking the Royal to the Lyceum Theatre, which is a shame because the weather was foul on my night in Crewe. It didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the evening in this wonderful theatre in front of a warm and appreciative audience.
