Felixstowe Book Festival

July 1, 2019

On the hottest day of the year so far, I make my first visit to the Felixstowe Book Festival.
In it’s sixth year, the festival is centred on the Orwell Hotel which sounds as if it should house the Ministry of Truth and have an Animal Farm in the grounds.

What it does have is the River Orwell (from which the writer Eric Blair devised his  pseudonym) running nearby.
Having arrived the previous evening we find that the hotel also has a fabulous chef in it’s restaurant and a pianist playing beautifully in one corner – not a common sight in hotel restaurants these days unfortunately.
There is a full house for my 11.30 event and we enjoy a lovely buffet lunch afterwards with the event sponsors, Kingsfleet Wealth.
