Hull

June 18, 2019

The establishment of any new independent bookshop is a cause for celebration; doubly so when it’s in my former constituency of Hull West and Hessle.

Julie Ellam took the brave decision to start her own bookshop last year and is enjoying her new life selling books in the wonderful setting of Hepworth Arcade This is an ornate reminder of the 19th century predilection for shopping arcades rather than Malls.

We met Julie when she provided the books for my event at Beverley.

On Saturday I was invited to read children’s books at the shop – which I did but to an adult audience! It was great fun.
