Lyme Regis

October 7, 2019

Here I am in my crumpled Ben Sherman mac the morning after a wonderful evening at the Marine Theatre.

The Serendip bookshop has been in Lyme Regis for fifty years and actually featured in the film of ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ disguised to fit the novel’s Victorian setting. John and Bee have run the shop for the past nine years. They tell me that they sell lots of copies of John Fowles famous book set in the town. I thought that ‘Serendip’ was an abbreviation of the lovely word ‘serendipity’ but it’s actually the old Persian name for Sri-Lanka.

On a perfect sunny day for our visit to this beautiful town we enjoy a fish lunch on the Cobb and an afternoon walk in preparation for our evening event.
