Manchester Literature Festival

October 12, 2018

After brilliant weather all week it begins to rain as we enter Manchester in the early evening. Stereotypical it may be but Manchester should never be approached without an umbrella close at hand.

Nothing detracts from the dynamism of this City or the success of it’s Literary Festival. I have the good fortune to be interviewed by Anita Sethi, the writer, journalist and broadcaster who I worked with last year when we were fellow judges for the David Cohen Prize for Literature.

Anita is a charming and gracious Chair. Our venue is The Dancehouse on Oxford Road. It’s theatre is magnificent and the audience of 300 includes Jeremy Pritchard from one of my favourite bands, ‘Everything Everything’.

It also includes my mother-in-law and Anita’s mother. We decide that the extract I read should contain no swear words!
