Marlborough Literary Festival

October 8, 2018

At the Marlborough Literature Festival I am asked by an audience member why I prefer The Beatles to The Stones. My answer seeks to convey my appreciation of the Rolling Stones who I saw live (who I saw twice in their early years) before pointing out that their first single was a Lennon/McCartney song.
At the book signing afterwards I’m asked to inscribe a book “To Ronnie – I’m afraid I still prefer The Beatles.”
My book buyer is the woman who asked me the question about the Stones; “Ronnie” is Ronnie Wood for whom she has bought the book and the woman is none other than Joyce Smyth, the Rolling Stones manager!!!
A wonderful interview by Caroline Sanderson before a sell-out audience of 200, Marlborough will live long in my memory.
