Sale

February 20, 2020

Waterside Arts in Sale, Cheshire, was the venue for my first show in 2020.

Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Daniel Gray. When neither of my two regular confederates could do this show I immediately thought of Daniel who’d interviewed me at the Edinburgh festival. He’s a great writer himself with several books about our shared passion of football. I discovered another shared passion which is for the author, playwright, broadcaster and social observer, J.B. Priestley. The writer of brilliant novels such as ‘The Good Companions’ and ‘Angel Pavement’ as well as the 1930’s travelogue ‘English Journey’, Priestley seems almost forgotten today.

Daniel scours second hand bookshops to try to complete a collection of his novels whilst I tried to convince a TV production company to make a film retracing his ‘English Journey’ over 80 years on.

Anyway, it was a pleasure to work with Daniel again and the event couldn’t have gone better.
