As my wife, Carolyn, hails from the fair city of Carlisle, I spend quite a bit of time there visiting family. Many were in the audience for my ‘Evening With’ event on Wednesday, October 9th at the Old Fire Station. I was interviewed by Paul Musgrave who was off to see Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart the following evening. He could have given them some tips on the art of interviewing. Thanks to Paul and a typically warm Carlisle crowd, I had a great time with the added bonus of seeing my friends from Bookends, Carlisle’s famous bookshop.
They provided the books for my signing and also signed me up for ‘Words By The Water’, Keswick’s beautifully located book festival which resumes in 2025 after a two year hiatus. My only regret is that I couldn’t take those armchairs home with me afterwards.
