Here I am with Andy Richardson, my interviewer at Workington. After finishing ‘This Week’ with Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo in the early hours of Friday, I’m on the 10.30 from Euston for the long journey to the Cumbrian coast (change at Carlisle) arriving at 3pm. Its a picturesque route with the snow-capped mountains of the Lake District prominent for the final leg.

And the venue is equal to the surroundings. The Carnegie Theatre is a piece of social history lovingly preserved and operated by local volunteers.

Andy makes sure the music is available on cue and moderates the Q&A session in the second half of the show. Brexit is mentioned but more in despair than anger.
